Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which the current situation in the Middle East came under discussion and emphasis was placed on the need for an early end to tensions in the region.
According to the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev held detailed talks on the latest developments in the Middle East, and both leaders expressed support for halting the ongoing military actions in the region.
The Russian president also thanked President Ilham Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s assistance in the evacuation of Russian citizens during the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. The two leaders reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan in various sectors.
Separately, Vladimir Putin also held a telephone conversation with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which the situation in the Gulf region came under discussion.
Both leaders expressed concern that the situation in the region was deteriorating rapidly and could have serious consequences for Iran and Arab countries.
The Russian president thanked the Emirati leadership for the facilities and assistance provided to Russian citizens in the United Arab Emirates and stressed the importance of preventing further escalation of the current conflict and resolving it through negotiations.
During the conversation, Vladimir Putin also congratulated Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his 65th birthday and praised his role in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Both leaders finally expressed satisfaction that friendly relations between Russia and the United Arab Emirates were advancing rapidly across various sectors.
