The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Thursday approved a series of technical grants and funding allocations for multiple sectors during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.
Among the key decisions, the committee approved Rs3.63 billion for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to support operations and relief activities related to the 2025 monsoon season.
The ECC also approved Rs13.1 million for Pakistan’s membership in the World Energy Forum.
In a move aimed at supporting communities in energy-producing regions, the committee sanctioned development projects worth Rs3 billion for villages located near gas-producing areas.
To address pending payments in the education sector, the ECC approved Rs200 million for the clearance of dues owed to teachers working in Basic Education Community Schools.
The committee further allowed a concession on additional funding of $4 million for the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Funding of Rs1.3 billion was also approved for electricity projects under the Sustainable Development Programme.
The ECC approved a comprehensive reform package for the power sector, aimed at reducing electricity generation costs and helping to lower the country’s circular debt.
Additionally, the committee sanctioned Rs1.47 billion to clear outstanding payments related to government public awareness campaigns. The Ministry of Information was directed to present the remaining financial requirements in the next quarter.
