Bangladesh have announced their squad for the upcoming three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan, set to be played in Dhaka.
The series will begin on March 11, with the second and third matches scheduled for March 13 and March 15 respectively at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The most notable inclusion in Bangladesh’s squad is Afif Hossain, who has been recalled after last playing an ODI in December 2024. His return adds experience to the middle order as Bangladesh prepare to face Pakistan in the short ODI series.
Meanwhile, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan has retained his place in the squad after being part of the team’s last ODI series against the West Indies in October 2025.
Litton Das retained despite struggles
Bangladesh selectors have also decided to keep Litton Das in the squad, despite his recent lean run in ODI cricket. Chairman of the Bangladesh selection panel Gazi Ashraf Hossain explained the decision, saying the team management remains confident in the experienced batter.
“There may be questions about Litton Das’s recent ODI form, but he has been working closely with the coaches on his game,” Hossain said.
“We believe he can soon produce his best in this format and are considering him as an option to strengthen the middle order.”
Selectors explain Afif, Mahidul selections
Hossain also highlighted the importance of Afif Hossain’s return to the squad. “Afif brings valuable experience and currently appears to be in fine touch,” he said.
Regarding Mahidul Islam, Hossain added that retaining him provides a chance to showcase his potential. “Mahidul Islam has been retained and this is a good opportunity for him to fulfil the potential he has shown.”
Several players miss out
Some players who were part of earlier squads have not been included in the team for the Pakistan series. Nurul Hasan, Jaker Ali Anik, and Shamim Hossain have all missed out on selection.
Additionally, Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib remain unavailable due to injuries.
Hasan Mahmud is recovering from tennis elbow, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib is dealing with a back injury. The Bangladesh team management expects both players to regain full fitness by the end of the month.
