Former Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to fine national team players following the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 setback.
Khawaja said he had only recently heard that Pakistani players were fined after the tournament. “I did not believe it at first when I heard that the players had been fined,” he said.
The former Australian batter said the Pakistan team had played very good cricket in the past. “How can it be said that after imposing fines they will perform better next time?” Khawaja said.
He said no team wished to lose. Khawaja said Pakistan’s players remained under constant pressure as the entire nation watched them closely.
“I have sympathy for the poor players of the Pakistan team,” he added.
