Forgery in official land records has been uncovered in an Islamabad Patwar Circle, prompting the Federal Investigation Agency to register a corruption case involving a former patwari and a revenue officer.
The Anti-Corruption Circle of the FIA in Islamabad has registered a case against Najaf Hameed, a former circle patwari and brother of former DG ISI Faiz Hameed.
Revenue Officer Abdul Zahoor has also been named as an accused in the case, according to officials.
According to the FIR, Najaf Hameed, in collusion with another patwari, illegally changed the ownership of a one-kanal plot of valuable land.
The accused allegedly used fake registry documents and bogus transfers to fraudulently acquire the land.
10 marlas transferred
Investigators said the accused transferred only 10 marlas of land instead of the full one kanal, manipulating official records to conceal the fraud. The FIR states that ownership details were altered both in individual records and government land registers.
According to FIA officials, the alleged forgery and manipulation of land records took place during 2009 and 2010. The case includes charges related to cheating, forgery, and misuse of authority, reflecting the seriousness of the alleged offence.
Investigation underway
The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle has formally registered the case and launched an investigation to determine the full scope of the fraud.
Officials said further action will be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry and available evidence.
