Ahead of CES 2026, Samsung has lifted the curtain on its latest portable projector, betting heavily on artificial intelligence.
The newly announced Freestyle+ aims to fix long-standing portability issues by making setup faster, smarter, and more intuitive.
Samsung has officially announced The Freestyle+, the successor to its original Freestyle projector. The new model retains the compact and flexible design that defined its predecessor.
However, it brings notable upgrades in brightness and AI-driven performance. According to Samsung, these improvements are designed to make portable projection truly “point and play.”
AI OptiScreen takes center stage
At the heart of The Freestyle+ is AI OptiScreen, an AI-powered screen optimisation technology. It automatically adjusts the projected image based on the surface and surrounding environment.
This feature aims to eliminate the manual tweaking often associated with portable projectors.
AI OptiScreen includes 3D Auto Keystone, which corrects image distortion when projecting onto uneven or angled surfaces. This ensures the picture remains properly aligned.
It also features Real-Time Focus, which continuously adjusts focus as the projector moves. This allows for uninterrupted viewing even when the device is repositioned.
Another key feature is Wall Calibration, which analyses the color of the projection surface. The projector then adjusts the image to maintain more accurate and balanced colors.
True “point and play” experience
Samsung says The Freestyle+ is built for instant use. The projector promises quick setup and immediate playback, allowing users to start watching content wherever they place it.
This focus on ease of use directly addresses one of the biggest complaints about portable projectors.
The Freestyle+ offers a claimed brightness of 430 ISO lumens, which is twice as bright as the original Freestyle. This improvement is expected to enhance visibility in a wider range of lighting conditions.
The projector also introduces Vision AI Companion, which Samsung says enables more natural and conversational interaction with on-screen content.
Samsung is expected to share more details when The Freestyle+ is showcased at CES 2026, which begins on Sunday, January 4. The company is among several brands making early CES announcements.
Hisense has already revealed two new 4K laser projectors, while Samsung has also previewed one of its most important TVs for 2026. More hands-on impressions are expected from the show floor in the coming days.
