According to details surfaced on Tuesday, this is Pakistan’s largest tractor scheme for farmers in Punjab. Under the Chief Minister’s Tractor Programme, 10,000 tractors of 50 to 75 horsepower were provided to farmers in the first phase. Moreover, the Punjab government will provide a subsidy of Rs10 billion for the high-power tractor scheme. The third phase of the Chief Minister Punjab Tractor Scheme will begin in January. Applications will soon be invited for the provision of tractors with 50 to 55 horsepower.
The Punjab CM said, "The aim of providing tractors to Punjab’s farmers is economic self-reliance and higher agricultural output, said Maryam Nawaz. Farmers are becoming owners of their own tractors, which is a source of great satisfaction."
