Russia’s Foreign Minister has claimed that the Russian military successfully thwarted a Ukrainian drone attack targeting the residence of President Vladimir Putin.
According to the Russian Foreign Minister, the attack took place on the night of December 29 in the Novgorod region, where Ukraine allegedly launched 91 drones. He said Russia’s air defense systems responded in time and destroyed all incoming drones.
The statement added that President Putin’s residence suffered no damage and the security situation remained fully under control throughout the incident. The Russian Foreign Minister further warned that Moscow would reconsider its negotiating strategy following the alleged attack by Kyiv.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin released details of a telephone conversation between President Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump. President Putin conveyed that Russia intends to continue working with the United States to establish peace. He also briefed Trump about the reported Ukrainian drone attack near his residence.
According to the Kremlin, President Trump expressed surprise upon hearing about the incident and stated that the drone attack could impact US policy and relations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
