OnePlus is preparing to unveil a new smartphone series called Turbo in China next month, and fresh leaks suggest at least one of the devices could see a wider global release, including in India.
OnePlus is set to introduce its new Turbo lineup in China next month, with two devices expected under the series. The launch marks the company’s effort to expand its portfolio with performance-focused smartphones.
One of the upcoming models was recently spotted on the Geekbench database, confirming key hardware details ahead of the official announcement.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 confirmed
According to the Geekbench listing, the OnePlus Turbo device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. The chipset places the phone firmly in the upper mid-range to flagship-adjacent category.
This processor choice suggests OnePlus is targeting high performance while keeping the device accessible to a broader audience.
Global launch tipped
A new rumor now claims that the OnePlus Turbo will not remain exclusive to China. The device is said to be planned for an international launch, with India mentioned as one of the confirmed markets.
However, there is no official word yet on the global release timeline. More clarity is expected after the phone is officially unveiled in China in January.
Massive battery
One of the standout features of the OnePlus Turbo is its reported 9,000 mAh battery. If accurate, this would be among the largest batteries seen in a mainstream OnePlus smartphone.
The phone is also rumored to support 80W wired fast charging, promising quick top-ups despite the large battery capacity.
High refresh rate
The device is expected to feature an OLED display with a “1.5K” resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. This combination points toward a smooth and immersive visual experience, particularly for gaming and media consumption.
Such display specifications further reinforce the phone’s performance-oriented positioning.
Interestingly, the OnePlus Turbo is reportedly codenamed “Volkswagen.” The name hints at a strategy focused on mass appeal, positioning the phone as a powerful yet accessible option for a wide audience.
This aligns with the rumored hardware, which balances high-end features with practical design choices.
Camera setup still under wraps
In terms of photography, the phone is said to feature a dual rear camera setup. Beyond this, no further camera details have surfaced so far.
Additional specifications are expected to emerge closer to the official launch.
