Special Assistant to Information for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shafi Jan, stated that the provincial government would not support any military operations in KP.
Speaking on Samaa News’ program Nadeem Malik Live, Jan said that the decision regarding operations is not within his authority and must come from elsewhere.
He emphasized that the provincial government does not endorse closed-door decisions and will not support any military operation.
“Our position from day one remains the same. We will not support any military operation in KP. We have concerns regarding the federal policy on Afghan refugees. No one should be forced to go; those who wish to return should be sent back with dignity. Afghan refugees themselves provide citizenship and political support to some individuals,” he added.
Rana Sanaullah
Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah commented on political developments, stating that obstacles to progress often stem from the founder’s personal stance.
He recalled political differences in the 1990s, the signing of the Charter of Democracy, and events from 2011 to 2018, including decisions that led to certain leaders being brought to power. He also referenced former PM Shehbaz Sharif’s statements about national interest and economic agreements.
He accused the PTI founder of being unwilling to compromise for political stability or negotiations, claiming that the PTI’s aim was to incite unrest. Sanaullah alleged that the May 9 incidents and the long march were part of a plot to obstruct the Army Chief’s appointment, with claims that Faiz Hameed was a mastermind behind these events.
He described the May 9 incidents as a failed attempt at military insubordination, suggesting that if further evidence implicates others, it could be considered a case of rebellion. He added that, apart from the founder, some PTI members might also have been involved.
