In high-altitude areas and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), temperatures have fallen below freezing as the cold weather persists across the country.
According to details, in Swat, including the city of Mingora and surrounding highland areas, the cold has intensified. In the valleys of Kalam and Malam Jabba, night-time temperatures have dropped. In Kalam Valley, temperatures reached minus one degree, while in Malam Jabba they fell to minus two degrees.
Severe cold has also gripped Mansehra. At the tourist spot of Naran, temperatures fell to minus ten degrees. Waterfalls in Naran and nearby areas have frozen.
According to district authorities, all traffic in Naran has been suspended due to cold and fog. Beyond Paldaran towards Kaghan, all traffic is prohibited.
In Azad Kashmir, the intensity of dry cold has increased. The severe cold has caused difficulties for residents in high-altitude areas. In Wadi Neelam, temperatures were recorded at minus six degrees.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that rain and snowfall are expected in Swat from next week.
