Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has announced its roadmap for the creation of new provinces, proposing administrative divisions in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan under the names Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern - without altering the names of any existing provinces.
IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan said that forming three new provinces in Sindh would enable the ruling party to address public issues more effectively, as three chief ministers could focus better on governance and development projects.
He added that the establishment of new inspector generals, chief secretaries and high courts in the new provinces would significantly improve governance.
Federal minister for communications further stated that Punjab, too, could be divided into three to four additional provinces to enhance service delivery and ensure that government machinery responds swiftly to citizens’ problems.
In Balochistan, he said, residents of far-flung areas often spend several days traveling to the provincial capital; therefore, new provinces are essential for easing public hardship and accelerating development.
He emphasized that the proposed names for the new provinces would be Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern, and that no existing province would undergo a name change. The initiative, he insisted, is free of any prejudice and aims solely at public welfare. “If a political party ends up with three chief ministers instead of one, there is no harm in that,” he remarked.
IPP members of the National Assembly, including Aun Chaudhry, Gul Asghar Baghour and Munazza Hassan, also attended the meeting. Participants said the proposal marks an important milestone toward progress and improved governance in Pakistan.
