Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Sunday that Pakistan will provide Egypt with a list of 250 business enterprises for inclusion in Egypt’s ‘white list’ as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral economic ties.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister, Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, Dar added that the list of firms would be compiled within six months, bringing the total to 500.
He said the two countries have also agreed to form a Pakistan–Egypt Business Council to formally institutionalise trade cooperation.
Addressing concerns over increasing visa-related issues, Dar noted that both governments have finalised a new facilitation mechanism aimed at easing travel and improving business mobility between Pakistan and Egypt.
The deputy prime minister further stated that political consultations between the two sides will take place in Pakistan in the first quarter of 2026, while the inaugural meeting of the forum will be hosted in Cairo in the second quarter of the same year. He also highlighted that Pakistan and Egypt have agreed to convene the Joint Ministerial Commission in 2026 - the first time since 2010.
Meanwhile, FM Abdelatty termed Pakistan his 'second home country' and conveyed Egypt’s condolences over the 'tragic loss of lives and injuries' in the recent terrorist attacks in Islamabad and Peshawar.
“We stand in full solidarity with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism,” the Egyptian top diplomat highlighted. “I would also like to convey our deep appreciation of our very cordial relation with Pakistan,” he said.
“That, of course, encourages us to work together and to cooperate in terms of exchange of best practices and expertise to help each other, and to confirm that stability and peace and development are the main pillars of our strategic partnership,” Abdelatty said.
“We would like to elevate our relationship to the strategic level,” the minister added.
