A disturbing case of violence against a woman has come to light after a video showing her hair being forcibly cut went viral on social media.
Police have registered a case, arrested some suspects, and are pursuing the remaining accused.
Authorities confirmed that a complaint was filed at Naseerabad police station after the video circulated online. Four accused have been named in the case: Nazar Khan, Muhammad Anis, Jalil Khan, and Jabbar Khan.
Three of them have been taken into custody, while efforts are underway to arrest the remaining two, including a woman.
Police are also investigating to recover the mobile phone and scissors used in making the video.
Victim’s statement reveals ordeal
The victim, identified as Iman, said the incident occurred about a month and a half ago. She explained that a girl named Sana and a man named Arman took her from her home to a flat on Misrial Road in Christian Colony. There, she was tortured, her hair was cut, and a video of the incident was recorded.
Iman further revealed that the suspects later took her to another flat in Bahria Town, where she was allegedly threatened at gunpoint and another video was made. She said that four other individuals, including Durrani, Mitho, and an unknown person, were present at the Misrial Road flat.
The victim said she learned about the video being circulated on social media through others and has urged authorities to take strict action against the accused.
Police action and investigation
Islamabad Police traced Iman and recorded her statement regarding the incident. The suspects were detained during raids at various locations. Investigation confirmed that the case falls under Rawalpindi jurisdiction. The victim and the arrested accused are being handed over to the relevant police for further action.
SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, took notice of the viral video, sought a report, and praised the Lohi Bher police team for their prompt and timely action.
