Players who abandon the ongoing tour of Pakistan will face a two-year ban, according to sources in the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
The Sri Lankan cricket team have requested permission to return home after leaving the Pakistan tour incomplete. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met the Sri Lankan High Commissioner and the team manager to discuss the matter and assured them of full security arrangements.
Naqvi guaranteed foolproof protection for the Sri Lankan side during their stay in Pakistan. Following the meeting, the Sri Lanka Cricket directed all players to complete the tour as scheduled.
The second One Day International of the three-match series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is set to take place in Rawalpindi tomorrow.
A tri-nation series featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe is also scheduled to be held in Pakistan.
