Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi said on Tuesday that the Sri Lankan cricket team have been accorded the status of state guests.
He made it clear that no compromise will be made on the security of the visiting team. Naqvi inspected security arrangements at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi ahead of the first One Day International (ODI). He said that the promotion of sporting activities remains a shared national objective.
The first ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is under way at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field against Pakistan.
Speaking after the toss, Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said that he would also have chosen to field first had he won the toss. He added that the team aims to perform well in this series, as it did in the previous one.
Commenting on the playing eleven, Afridi said that the Pakistan side includes Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Faheem Ashraf, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Hussain Talat and Mohammad Nawaz. Naseem Shah has been included in place of Abrar.
