Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has rejected the 27th constitutional amendment.
Speaking on "Samaa Debate with Iftikhar Ahmed", he stated that the amendment should not have been introduced. He asserted that any decision to reduce provincial rights would not be accepted.
"According to the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, the share of provinces may be increased but cannot be reduced," maintained Rehman. Recalling about the 18th amendment, Rehman said that the powers granted to the provinces had failed to benefit the public.
Rehman claimed that 11 members were bought for the passage of the 26th amendment and that the government had withdrawn 35 points at that time. He termed November as a "turbulent" month in the national politics.
