US President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to mediate peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan, calling the conflict “an easy one” to solve.
Speaking at the White House during a joint appearance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump said he had already defused several global crises, including tensions between Pakistan and India, and claimed to have saved millions of lives through his peace efforts.
Trump offers to end Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict
Trump said that the war between Pakistan and Afghanistan could be resolved easily if he chose to intervene. “There is a war going on in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Stopping this war is the easiest thing for me. I love saving people from being killed,” he remarked.

He added that while he was primarily focused on running the United States, he found deep satisfaction in ending wars. "…although I do understand that Pakistan attacked, or there is an attack going on with Afghanistan. That's an easy one for me to solve if I have to solve it. But I also have to run America. Still, I like stopping wars — I like saving people from being killed,” Trump said, emphasizing his self-proclaimed success as a “solver of wars.”
'I saved millions of lives,' says Trump
Recounting his past mediation efforts, Trump said the prime minister of Pakistan had also acknowledged recently that he had “saved millions of lives” by defusing tensions between Pakistan and India. “Take the example of Pakistan and India — that situation could have been serious. The Prime Minister of Pakistan said that I saved millions of lives,” he said.
He described the Pakistan–India standoff as “a bad one between two nuclear nations,” adding, “That would have been terrible, but I got it done. Two nuclear nations — right? I saved millions of lives.”
'I’ve solved eight conflicts,' says US president
Trump claimed he had resolved eight global conflicts in the last eight months, citing Pakistan–India, Gaza, and other regions as examples of his peace efforts. “I’ve solved eight conflicts, including the Middle East. This [Ukraine–Russia] I thought would be among the easiest,” he said.
He also mentioned other regions such as Armenia, Rwanda, the Congo, and Thailand, stating that he had contributed to peace there. “Every time I solve one, they say, ‘If you solve the next one, you’ll get the Nobel Prize.’ But I didn’t get it,” Trump remarked, adding humorously, “Somebody else got it — a very nice woman, very generous, but I don’t know who she is.”
Reference to meeting with Putin, Zelensky
During the press appearance with Zelensky, Trump frequently highlighted his recent peace summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which he said demonstrated his determination to broker global peace. The meeting, hastily arranged before his lunch with Zelensky, underscored Trump’s focus on diplomacy and his ambition to be recognized as a peacemaker.
Before the private lunch, Trump said he and Zelensky would discuss his conversation with Putin a day earlier. “It’s funny how people say that if you get this one, you’ll get the Nobel Prize. Every time I solve a war, they forget the last one,” he said, referencing his earlier involvement in peace negotiations.
'I'm good at solving wars'
Trump reiterated his belief that his foreign policy achievements merited recognition. “This will be my eighth war that I have solved, and I hear there is a war now going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said, I'll have to wait till I get back. I am doing another one. Because I am good at solving wars,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One during a flight from Washington to Israel.
He said he had handled wars lasting decades, claiming, “Think about India and Pakistan, some wars going on for 31, 32, 37 years, with millions killed — I got every one of those done within a day, for the most part.”
Trump concluded by saying he was proud of his peace record, remarking that he enjoyed “saving lives” more than anything else in politics.
