The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved an increase of 8 paise per unit in electricity prices.
According to details surfaced on Tuesday, the rise fell under the August fuel price adjustment and will apply to electricity users nationwide, including Karachi.
Meanwhile, the Nepra said the increase would not apply to lifeline consumers.
It is pertinent to note that in September, Nepra had announced a reduction of Rs1.78 per unit in electricity prices, bringing relief to consumers.
According to the Nepra, the decrease had been made under the fuel cost adjustment for the month of July. The relief will reflect in the electricity bills issued in September.
