The Punjab government has implemented strict security measures across Gujranwala and Lahore amid protests by a religious group.
Several roads have been sealed with containers, while public transport services were suspended following clashes between police and demonstrators.
In Gujranwala, GT Road has been closed at multiple points, including Sadhoki and Kamonki, causing severe traffic disruption.
Authorities have also dug trenches on Chanda Qila Bypass and near Wazirabad to block vehicle movement and prevent protesters from entering the city. Meanwhile, Sheikhupura Road, Sialkot Road, and Aziz Cross Bypass have been sealed with heavy containers.
Security forces have been deployed in large numbers, with checkpoints set up across the district to maintain order and monitor movement.
Clashes in Lahore leave several injured
In Lahore, clashes broke out between police and workers of the religious group, resulting in injuries to several people, including police personnel.
Authorities used tear gas and baton charges to disperse the crowd after demonstrators attempted to block key routes.
As a precautionary measure, the Orange Line Metro Train and Metro Bus services in Lahore have been temporarily suspended until further notice.
Commuters faced major inconvenience as the suspension coincided with road closures and diversions across the city.
