Pop sensation Dua Lipa has unintentionally set desi fandoms ablaze after a viral photo appeared to show her wearing a Pakistan Cricket Team (PCT) jersey.
The 30-year-old singer, fresh off her August 30 birthday celebrations and the launch of her Radical Optimism North American tour, became the center of cricket banter when an edited version of her August 29 mirror selfie began circulating on X (formerly Twitter).
In the doctored image, her plain white T-shirt was replaced with a PCT jersey. The edit immediately set off speculation: “Did Dua Lipa really post a selfie in PCT merch?”
The answer, of course, is no. The original photo showed no team colors — just the pop star in casual attire.
AI, deepfakes, and fan creativity
The frenzy underscores how quickly AI-generated edits and Photoshop creations can spread online. Fans from around the world have transformed Lipa’s plain tee into a blank canvas, overlaying everything from football club logos like PSG, Bayern Munich, and Valencia to cricket team insignias, including Punjab Kings from the IPL.
This wave of edits has unofficially turned the Levitating hitmaker into a global “brand ambassador” for whichever team her fans root for.
While many users played along with the joke, others fell for the fake. Some Pakistani fans proudly celebrated what they thought was her support, while rival fandoms dismissed it as wishful thinking.

The episode highlights the mix of humor and confusion AI edits can cause, especially amid the high emotions of the ongoing Asia Cup.
