Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure the early completion of rescue and relief preparations.
According to details surfaced on Wednesday, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik has briefed the premier on the prevailing flood situation during a telephone call.
The prime minister, speaking from Beijing, was informed of the rising water levels in the Ravi, Chenab and Sutlej rivers, along with ongoing relief efforts.
In light of the increasing flood levels, he has also instructed that the public be informed in advance regarding the flood risk in affected areas.
Moreover, PM Shehbaz has emphasised the need for provincial governments to coordinate fully, expedite safety measures and accelerate relief operations.
