The Sutlej River has wreaked havoc in the area, with heavy floodwaters flowing past Head Sulemanki at a discharge of more than 154,000 cusecs.
The strong current caused breaches in protective embankments at Chakr Motiya Wala, Kanjwan Wali Bhini, and Chak Jodhika, leading to widespread destruction. Dozens of settlements and thousands of acres of crops have been washed away.
Floodwaters have entered residential areas, cutting off ground access to several villages and leaving communities stranded.
