The floodwaters caused widespread destruction in the area, with the Ravi’s fierce currents inundating villages and entering the premises of the shrine. Authorities said water has been removed from Darbar Sahib Kartarpur and cleaning is underway.
According to the Assistant Commissioner of Shakargarh, Darbar Sahib will be reopened to Sikh pilgrims within 24 hours.
He added that every possible assistance will be extended to flood-affected families until their complete rehabilitation.
