Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held an important meeting with Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker on Thursday, focusing on cooperation in counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, and strengthening Pak-US relations.
US envoy offers condolences over flood losses
During the meeting, Natalie Baker expressed grief over the loss of lives caused by recent heavy rains and flash floods, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She extended sympathies on behalf of the US, saying, “Our deepest sympathies are with the families of the deceased.”
She also congratulated Mohsin Naqvi on being awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz and extended her best wishes for his continued service.
Mohsin Naqvi praises Trump’s peace efforts
Naqvi appreciated the efforts of US President Donald Trump for taking “sincere steps for sustainable world peace.” He remarked that Trump had “served humanity by preventing four wars, including one between Pakistan and India.”
Naqvi further expressed hope that the US president’s ongoing efforts to mediate ceasefires in Russia-Ukraine and Gaza will bear fruit. “Pakistan welcomes every step taken for peace,” he emphasized.
Strengthening Pak-US relations
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of cooperation, with the interior minister noting that Pak-US relations have expanded and warmed under President Trump’s leadership.
Acting Ambassador Baker echoed the sentiment, stating that Pakistan is an important friend of the United States and that Washington attaches special importance to its relations with Islamabad.
