Senator Faisal Vawda has said that Field Marshal General Asim Munir will not seek an extension, adding that permanence in office cannot be equated with an extension.
Speaking on SAMAA TV’s program Nadeem Malik Live, Vawda said that anyone obstructing Pakistan’s progress would be sidelined, warning that if leaders from the PML-N and PPP repeated past mistakes, they too would face consequences. He said the field marshal had already earned recognition at the international level.
Vawda clarified that Asim Munir has never given any one-on-one interview nor made any statement regarding offering an apology, stressing that such remarks were merely a journalist’s personal interpretation.

His comments come after senior journalist Suhail Warraich recently claimed that during a meeting in Brussels, the army chief had dismissed rumors about political change as “baseless” and said he had no desire for any position beyond being the country’s protector. According to Warraich, Munir had also suggested that true reconciliation in politics would only be possible if leaders apologized sincerely.
