A controversy has emerged after an official Independence Day advertisement by the Government of Pakistan reportedly omitted the image of the country’s founder and Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The ad instead featured photographs of current officeholders, sparking criticism on social media.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed voiced his disapproval on X (formerly Twitter), calling the omission a “disgrace.” He said the ad displayed “only temporary chair-occupiers, all of whom owe their high office to the struggle and sacrifice of the Quaid.”
