He said the formation of the legislative assembly reflected the democratic vision of the founders of Pakistan, adding that the sapling they planted had now grown into a strong and flourishing tree.
Ayaz Sadiq emphasized that the supremacy of parliament and the rule of the Constitution were the guarantees of the country’s progress and prosperity.
He said the first session of the Constituent Assembly was a practical expression of the public’s aspirations, and timely and effective legislation was essential to address challenges.
First Constituent Assembly of Pakistan
The Constituent Assembly of Pakistan, established in August 1947 as the supreme federal legislature of the Dominion of Pakistan, was tasked with framing a constitution and serving as an interim parliament.
Its members were initially elected to the Constituent Assembly of India but took office in Pakistan following the partition.
Later, members were elected in the 1947 elections.
The Assembly held its first session soon after its formation and continued until its dissolution in March 1956, when it was succeeded by the Parliament of Pakistan.
