A 27-year-old woman was allegedly murdered in the name of honour in the Qaimpur area of Hasilpur tehsil, police said on Sunday.
The woman’s father, along with her brother and husband, has been accused of carrying out the killing.
According to the Qaimpur police, an FIR has been registered against the three suspects on behalf of the state. All three have been arrested.
Police revealed that the suspects initially attempted to portray the incident as a natural death and had begun burial arrangements. However, authorities intervened, stopped the burial, and took custody of the body for examination.
A visible injury mark was found on the victim’s neck, and investigators believe she was strangled using a rope-like object, raising suspicion of homicide. Police confirmed that legal proceedings have begun and strict action will be taken against those involved under the law.
