Vote counting has concluded in the by-election for a vacant Senate seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Mishal Yousafzai securing victory by obtaining 86 votes, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.
Her closest rival, Mehtab Zafar, secured 53 votes, while Saima Khalid received just one vote.
The Election Commission earlier reported that out of 145 provincial assembly members, 143 cast their votes. Opposition member Sardar Shah Jehan Yousaf missed the vote due to being abroad, and government MPA Ashfaq Ahmed was also absent.
