A child kidnapping racket forcing minors into begging has been uncovered in Karachi. In a shocking incident, a three-year-old boy, Hussain, who was kidnapped two months ago from Shah Latif Town, was spotted begging with a street beggar by his uncle, who immediately recognized him.
The child’s uncle, Nasser, said his nephew had gone out to buy snacks when he went missing. "After prayers, when I stepped out of the mosque, I saw my missing nephew with a beggar," Nasser told SAMAA.
The accused, identified as Shehryar, was found making the child beg on the streets. According to police, a gang is involved in abducting children and forcing them into begging.
Shehryar confessed that he earns between 2,000 to 3,000 rupees daily through begging. He further claimed that his father-in-law, Sultan, had handed the child over to him.
The case has raised serious concerns about child trafficking and exploitation in the city, as police continue their investigation into the kidnapping network.
