Chicken prices in Peshawar have witnessed an unprecedented surge, with meat now selling at Rs720 per kilogram.
According to details surfaced on Saturday, inflation in Peshawar has continued to spiral out of control, as the cost of live chicken increased by Rs90 per kilogram in just five days. This sharp rise has pushed the wholesale market price to Rs450 per kilogram.
The upward trend in chicken prices shows no sign of slowing down. Within the past five days, live chicken has seen a significant hike of Rs90, while chicken meat has jumped from Rs575 to Rs720 per kilogram.
According to poultry dealers, the main reason behind the increase is a shortage of chickens at poultry farms in Punjab. Additionally, the rising cost of day-old chicks has also contributed to the price hike.
