In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, early morning torrential rains uprooted trees. In Kahuta, a house roof collapsed, tragically killing a child who was buried under the debris. Rescue teams managed to save four people, including the child’s parents.
According to the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall was recorded at Saidpur Gauging Station with 131 millimeters. The water level in Nullah Lai rose to 15 feet at Katarian Point.
In Lahore and other cities of Punjab, the rain brought pleasant weather and a significant drop in temperature. However, water accumulation was reported in several areas, and drainage efforts are underway.
Heavy rains were also recorded in Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, and Gujrat, while several cities remain under the threat of urban flooding. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts that the spell of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will continue throughout the day and has warned that this is one of the most intense rain systems of the season, posing a serious risk of urban flooding.
