A hand grenade explosion in a junkyard located in the Khal Market area of Lower Dir on Saturday claimed two lives and left three others injured.
According to police, the explosion occurred when a grenade — believed to be hidden among scrap items — detonated unexpectedly.
The blast resulted in the deaths of the shop owner and one of his employees.
Rescue officials said that three passersby sustained injuries and were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Their condition was reported to be stable.
Local authorities cordoned off the area shortly after the incident and initiated an investigation into how the explosive device found its way into the junkyard.
