Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, has revealed that terrorists are using drones for sabotage activities in the province, particularly in the merged tribal and southern districts.
Speaking to the media, IG Zulfiqar Hameed stated that the use of drones by terrorists in these areas has been confirmed, raising serious security concerns. He further emphasized that drone usage is increasing globally, and there is a strong possibility that terrorists may expand their use of drones in the region.
"The threat of growing drone use by terrorists cannot be ignored. For effective surveillance and timely action, the police require drones in all districts," the IG said. He also stressed the need for drones capable of night-time operations to enhance security monitoring.
IG Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed that work is already underway to procure drones for the police force and expressed hope that this critical gap in resources will soon be addressed.
