Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry chaired a meeting on the Gadani Ship Breaking Yard project and approved Rs12 billion investment to develop a modern, eco-friendly ship breaking yard at Gadani.
The minister announced that the existing yard will be transformed into a Model Green Yard with a focus on advanced infrastructure, environmental protection, and improved safety standards.
Maritimes minister further revealed that the project will also include the construction of a 30-bed hospital, a 32-kilometer road, a school, and a park to support the local community.
Additionally, labour colonies and clean water supply facilities will be developed to improve the working and living conditions of the shipyard’s labor force.
Chaudhry emphasized that the modernization of the Gadani yard will stabilize the annual production of 1.2 million tons of steel and position Pakistan as a regional hub for green ship recycling.
