Amid rising security concerns in the Middle East, Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Thursday issued a strict travel advisory, urging citizens to avoid travel to Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon until the situation stabilises.
In a statement, foreign office spokesperson said Pakistani nationals should refrain from travelling to the four countries due to the "evolving security situation in the region."
The spokesperson also advised Pakistanis already residing in these countries to exercise extreme caution, avoid unnecessary movements, and stay in close contact with Pakistani embassies.
“Pakistani citizens are advised not to travel to Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon until the security situation improves,” the spokesperson said. “Those already in these countries must remain vigilant and avoid any non-essential travel.”
The advisory comes at a time of increasing instability in the region following a series of military escalations involving regional and international actors.
The FO did not specify a particular incident that prompted the advisory but underscored the need for citizens' safety.
The spokesperson also released a comprehensive list of contact numbers for Pakistani missions in the affected countries to ensure citizens have direct access to assistance if needed.
