Following his promotion to the prestigious rank of field marshal, General Asim Munir has expressed deep gratitude to God, dedicating this historic honour to the nation, the armed forces of Pakistan, and civil and military martyrs and ghazis.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir said: "I am grateful to Allah Almighty for bestowing upon me the honour of being promoted to field marshal. I dedicate this honour to the entire nation, the armed forces of Pakistan -- especially the civil and military martyrs and veterans who have sacrificed for this country."

He went on to add: "This is not an individual honour, but an honour for the Pakistani armed forces and the entire nation. This honour is a trust from the nation, for which millions of Asims can be sacrificed. I am deeply thankful to the president of Pakistan, the prime minister, and the federal cabinet for their trust. This honour belongs to the nation."

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated General Asim Munir on his elevation to the country’s highest military rank.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori also congratulated Field Marshal Asim Munir, stating: "General Asim Munir was truly deserving of this honour for decisively defeating the enemy. His leadership in uniform was a clear manifestation of his unmatched strategic capabilities."
