Sources close to the players revealed that following India's resounding victory, an influx of Indian social media users directed critical comments at Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan's Instagram accounts.
The comments reportedly targeted various aspects of the players' lives, including their religion and nationality.
In response to the onslaught of online criticism, both players have chosen to restrict the comments section on their Instagram posts.
Babar Azam, in particular, has closed the comments section on his last three Instagram posts and is expected to maintain these restrictions in the coming days. Even if he posts on his birthday today, sources suggest that comments will remain limited.
Additionally, Mohammad Rizwan has also taken steps to restrict his Instagram account, presumably to shield himself from the barrage of comments that ensued after the Pakistan-India match.
