A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Punjab Information Ministry and the Ravi Development and Dwelling Authority (RDDA) to facilitate the transfer of land for 3,200 plots for journalists from the Punjab government.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhair said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz made significant strides in delivering on her promise to provide housing plots to 3,200 journalists in Lahore.
The MoU was signed by Secretary Information Tahirza Hamdani and RDDA CEO Imran Amin, with key stakeholders including Punjab spokesperson Azma Bokhari, Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, Saleem Sagar, and Colonel (Retired) Abid Mahmood in attendance.
She reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to fulfilling its promise, marking the first time in the province's history that such a large-scale initiative for journalists is being implemented.
RUDA Plots merit and eligibility
The allocation process will ensure transparency, with forms available at the Lahore Press Club for LPC council members and through the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) for non-council members.
Merit certificates will determine eligibility, with no room for recommendations, Azma Bokhari emphasized.
Journalist Housing Society Phase-II
Azma Bokhari highlighting the progress, announced that the Journalist Housing Scheme Phase 2 would be completed in the coming days.
LPC society F-block issue resolved
Additionally, on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the longstanding issue of F Block has been resolved, further facilitating the scheme’s implementation.
