The founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has recently made an appeal to the United Nations for assistance, raising eyebrows and contradicting his earlier narrative of “We are not slaves,” which has now seemingly crumbled.
This slogan, originally intended to rally his supporters, has proven to be politically motivated and disconnected from reality.
Following his ousting from the government through constitutional means, the PTI leader attempted to claim that his removal was orchestrated by the U.S.
When faced with U.S. discontent, he shifted blame to key government figures. He also attempted to revive the narrative around the cipher, but even that was debunked by Donald Lu. Thus, his entire political strategy appears to revolve around deceit and negative propaganda.
Now, his call for UN intervention stands in stark opposition to his earlier proclamations of independence, suggesting an undermining of Pakistan's sovereignty.
Engaging international bodies in national issues could destabilize the country and impact its internal politics. Notably, the PTI founder has yet to seek UN intervention for the Palestinian issue; why then, for his own political challenges?
This move indicates a reliance on external forces to resolve internal issues, a troubling stance for a democratic nation. It raises serious questions about Pakistan's sovereignty, prompting the PTI leader to clarify his intentions behind seeking foreign intervention at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting.
Furthermore, soliciting international aid against domestic legal challenges jeopardizes national sovereignty. If he seeks relief, Pakistan's courts are accessible, and intriguingly, he has received support from them. Yet, his inclination to involve global entities suggests a hidden agenda.
The founder's narrative has led to his party members espousing sentiments bordering on treachery. Recently, when PTI's disruptive Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur attempted to sabotage the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting, his advisor Barrister Saif suggested inviting the Indian Foreign Minister to speak at their rally, further indicating that the PTI has become a tool for anti-national forces.
