Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level security meeting, reaffirming the government's commitment to ensuring the success of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
The meeting, attended by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Islamabad inspector general of police (IGP), and chief commissioner, focused on reviewing the security arrangements and overall situation in the federal capital.
Sources revealed that the participants were briefed on the current security status in Islamabad, with the prime minister directing authorities to implement foolproof security measures ahead of the high-profile international summit. Shehbaz Sharif also emphasized the importance of accelerating efforts to beautify the city, instructing the chief commissioner to expedite ongoing projects.
The meeting also addressed the recent terrorist incident in Karachi and the broader security landscape of the country. The prime minister expressed firm determination to thwart the efforts of anti-national elements, vowing that the security forces would crush any ambitions of such groups.
The SCO summit, to be held in Islamabad, is a significant diplomatic event, and the government is keen to ensure that it proceeds smoothly and without incident.
