Pakistan has intensified its diplomatic outreach following the signing of a joint defence agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar holding separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Iran, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Dar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi discussed regional and international developments, the changing security situation and efforts to promote peace and stability.
Dar also briefed his Iranian counterpart on the key features of the joint defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
The Pakistani foreign minister said the agreement aims to strengthen strategic cooperation and contribute to regional peace and security.
Araqchi thanked Dar for sharing details of the agreement, while the two sides agreed to remain in close contact on matters of mutual interest.
Dar speaks with Saudi counterpart
Dar also held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan.
The two foreign ministers discussed bilateral relations, matters of mutual interest and the prevailing regional situation.
They also agreed to continue coordination and cooperation through bilateral and multilateral forums.
Kuwait congratulates Pakistan
Dar separately spoke with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The two sides discussed Pakistan-Kuwait relations, the situation in occupied East Jerusalem and other important regional and international issues.
The Kuwaiti foreign minister congratulated Pakistan on the joint defence agreement signed with Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
Pakistan's diplomatic engagements come as regional tensions and security concerns continue to drive closer consultations among countries in the Middle East and South Asia.
