Neurologists have warned that drinking black coffee on an empty stomach may increase anxiety, nervousness and mental stress, as caffeine is absorbed more rapidly without food, overstimulating the brain and nervous system.
According to neurologists, caffeine enters the bloodstream much faster when consumed on an empty stomach, causing a sudden stimulation of the brain and nervous system.
This can lead to symptoms such as a rapid heartbeat, trembling hands, restlessness and feelings of anxiety, particularly in people who are already sensitive to caffeine.
Experts said the body's stress hormone, cortisol, naturally reaches higher levels around 30 to 45 minutes after waking up.
Drinking black coffee during this period may further elevate the body's stress response, making feelings of anxiety and nervousness more intense.
