Men are increasingly approaching the Federal Ombudsman for Protection Against Harassment at Workplace, with official documents showing that around 40% of complaints registered during the past year were filed by men.
According to the documents, a total of 1,290 complaints were registered in one year, while the ombudsman disposed of 1,104 cases during the same period.
The documents show that 521 men filed complaints related to workplace harassment and other allegations over the past year. This means complaints from men made up nearly 40% of all cases registered with the Federal Ombudsman for Anti-Harassment.
Islamabad records highest number
The highest number of complaints by men was registered at the FOSPAH head office in Islamabad, where 231 men approached the ombudsman.
Punjab ranked second with 222 complaints filed by men, while 42 men approached the Peshawar office. Karachi recorded 24 complaints from men, while two complaints were filed in Quetta.
The documents also show that 769 women filed complaints with the Federal Ombudsman for Anti-Harassment during the past year. Of these, 496 complaints were filed by women from Islamabad, while 154 cases came to light in Punjab.
Complaints include paternity leave issues
Officials said the complaints were not limited to workplace harassment alone.
Some cases were also filed over other allegations, including complaints related to not being granted leave for the birth of a child.
Out of the 1,290 complaints filed by men and women during the year, the Federal Ombudsman for Anti-Harassment disposed of 1,104 complaints.
The figures indicate a growing trend of both men and women turning to the ombudsman for workplace-related harassment and rights issues.
