The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) weekly data shows that 16 people were killed and 38 others injured across Pakistan during the pre-monsoon period from June 26 to July 2.
According to the figures, eight deaths occurred due to house collapses, four as a result of lightning strikes, two in flash floods, one by drowning, and one under other circumstances.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of fatalities with nine deaths, followed by Punjab with four and Balochistan with three.
Among the deceased were five men, four women, and seven children. The injured included fourteen men, four women, and twenty children.
The report said that 81 houses and 163 livestock animals were damaged during the period.
Separately, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported that at least nine people, including four children and one woman, have died in the province since the onset of the monsoon.
The PDMA said that twenty-three people, including eleven children and one woman, have been injured in incidents linked to lightning, cloudbursts, torrential rain, and flash floods.
