Iran has resolved to respond to the attack on Beirut as the authorities have suspended flights in the western parts of the country.
The nation's airspace will remain closed until further notice. Mohammad Mokhber, adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, said in a message posted on social media that the “aggressive enemy” would be taught a lesson it would regret.
Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had announced that a strong response would be given to the attack on Beirut.
Negotiations cannot progress amid Israeli attacks
Iranian leader Ebrahim Azizi has said a strong response to the Israeli attack on Beirut is forthcoming.
In a statement, Azizi, who heads the National Security Committee of the Iranian parliament, said recent developments had shown that the United States lacked the ability to control Israel.
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who led the Iranian delegation during talks in Islamabad, said on Sunday that progress in negotiations was not possible if the United States could not fulfil its responsibilities.
Ghalibaf said peace negotiations could not continue if Israeli attacks on Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahiyeh did not cease.
He said the Zionist incursion into Dahiyeh had once again demonstrated that the United States either lacked the ability to meet its commitments or had no intention of doing so.
He added that, before the signing of the memorandum of understanding, Israel launched missile strikes on Beirut in an attempt to disrupt the dialogue process.
Three Lebanese people were killed and six others injured in the attack.
