Pakistan has delivered what Iranian media described as an “important” message to Iran’s Supreme Leader as Islamabad steps up diplomatic efforts to help ease tensions in the region and encourage renewed dialogue between Tehran and Washington.
The message was conveyed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during his visit to Iran, where he held meetings with senior Iranian officials and discussed regional developments and bilateral cooperation.
Naqvi meets Iranian foreign minister
According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran on Sunday.
The two sides discussed the current regional situation, mediation efforts, and matters of mutual interest. They also reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
During the meeting, Naqvi delivered a special message that he had brought from Pakistan for Iran’s Supreme Leader, Iranian media reported.
Message from Pakistan’s civilian, military leadership
Earlier, Naqvi said he was visiting Tehran to convey special messages from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The visit comes as Pakistan increases diplomatic engagement aimed at helping revive negotiations between the United States and Iran amid renewed regional tensions.
According to Iranian media, discussions between the Pakistani and Iranian officials focused on mediation efforts and the broader security situation in the region.
The diplomatic outreach follows recent exchanges between Washington and Tehran that have raised concerns about the stability of a fragile ceasefire reportedly in place since April.
Pakistan has consistently advocated dialogue and diplomatic engagement as a means of reducing tensions and preventing further escalation in the region.
Warm welcome in Tehran
Upon his arrival in Tehran, Naqvi was received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
The two interior ministers later held talks and briefed the media, according to Iranian reports.
The visit underscores ongoing diplomatic contacts between Islamabad and Tehran at a time when regional stability remains a key concern for both countries.
