Preparations for the launch of 5G service in the country before Eid-ul-Fitr have been finalised, with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority completing arrangements for the issuance of 5G licences.
According to details surfaced on Wednesday, the licences will be issued to companies acquiring the 5G spectrum during a special ceremony at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend as chief guest.
Companies seeking licences have deposited bank guarantees worth $15 billion, and upon receipt of licences, they will commence 5G services in major cities, including Islamabad.
