Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence has claimed to have seized hundreds of Starlink devices.
According to state media, the ministry said the devices had been sent by hostile elements and were confiscated by authorities. The statement said that, under national law, the possession and use of Starlink devices is a criminal offence. It added that those found using such devices during wartime would face the most severe punishment.
Under Iranian law, the use of Starlink can carry a prison sentence of up to two years.
Since the outbreak of war, internet services in Iran have faced an almost complete blackout, making access for reporting difficult. Some individuals have turned to Starlink in order to obtain internet connectivity.
